In present day Mystic Falls, a century after they first met, Damon and Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman) will once again meet at the kick-off ceremony for the restoration of Wickery Bridge.  When Damon learns why Sage returned, he’s surprised.  But he’s also thrilled to learn that she’s come up with a way to figure out Rebekah’s motives.  Meanwhile, Abby is having a lot of trouble adjusting to her new life as a vampire, even though Bonnie and Caroline are working overtime to help her out.  Damon also delivers some bad news to Elena: Stefan is once again struggling.  Elena reaches out to Stefan and asks for his help to save a friend in danger, hoping that this might help him regain another piece of his humanity.  The CW also warns that “when Damon discovers a new secret weapon, he lets Stefan in on the news.”
